Valhalla Ventures is the O’Hare family’s holding company; managing the family’s investment and philanthropic activities.

Investment activities

Valhalla was the majority owner of the investment data company Preqin Ltd until March 2025; when Preqin was acquired by BlackRock. Valhalla is a patient, long term investor, focused primarily on the areas where we have a strong track record of success. These include:

  • Fast-growing data and technology companies;
  • Helping startups and young companies achieve scale and leadership in their markets;
  • Private Equity and other Private Capital funds and co-investments

Unlike a VC or private equity firm, Valhalla has a truly long-term time horizon, with no need or expectation for a short investment horizon or exit, whether in individual holdings or in collective funds.

Past success includes founding Citywatch, the equity shareholdings information service that is now part of Refinitiv; and Preqin, the private markets information business that is now part of BlackRock. Current holdings include Avvoka, the legal tech company; Net Zero Insights, the leading climate tech data platform; Vested Inc., providing liquidity solutions to private company option holders; and Verafind, a technology driven real estate acquisition company.
